Local artist & Visual Arts lecturer [EGiTAFE] JENNY TOYE is mentoring the Bairnsdale project

Jenny is working with local artists to produce a Bairnsdale  trail along the Mitchell River at  Picnic Point .

Heather Oke
Heather is working on a group of Red bearded Orchids, a native which grows around the rivers and steams in East Gippsland. The artwork is to be constructed of copper wire and aluminium they will be larger than life and seen from the river walk in Bairnsdale.

Sue Patton
Sue is divining a picnic. Sue has looked at the history of the Mitchell River, where boats used to steam up to Picnic Point for picnic lunches on the river.  Sue will be working with found materias, op shop finds, plastic castoffs and baling twine to create her installation.

Tony Power
Tony is looking at a the ‘Dandy Lion’ (the original native plant species) for the sculpture.  The seeds of the Dandy Lion blow to many Seldom Seen places. The piece will be kinetic and will bend and blow in the wind. Materials for construction are mainly aluminium wire and timber.

Michelle Deb Armstrong
Michelle is making a series of ‘Fish out of Water ‘- she is looking into extinct native fish as the model for the series.

Rosemary Hepworth
Rosemary’s working title is ‘Seldom Seen Horse’, it will be the size of a Shetland pony  or a bit smaller. The substructure will be solid but the outside will be canvas. The fabric will be embellished and embroidered with a range of materials.

Phillip Capadonna
Phillip’s work is yet to be revealed!
